서울 종로구 창신동에 위치한 이 건축물은 지역적 맥락과 대지의 독특한 특성을 고려하여 설계되었다. 창신동은 좁은 골목과 밀집된 건물들이 형성하는 특유의 도시적 풍경과 함께, 급격한 지형 변화로 인해 독창적인 공간적 체험을 제공한다. 이러한 지역적 배경은 건축적 아이디어에 중요한 영감을 주었으며, 특히 경사진 대지 위에 자리 잡은 형태는 주변 환경과의 상호작용을 반영한다.
건물의 외관은 강렬한 대비를 이루는 붉은 적벽돌과 흰 패널로 구성되어 있다. 적벽돌은 창신동의 역사적, 물리적 맥락을 은유적으로 재현하며, 전통적인 도시 재료를 현대적 감각으로 재해석한다. 흰 패널은 이와 대조적으로 밝고 미니멀한 이미지를 제시하며, 도시적 활력을 상징한다. 적벽돌로 구성된 패턴은 개방적이면서도 사적인 공간을 암시하며, 내부와 외부를 연결하는 필터 역할을 수행한다.
Located in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, this building was designed in consideration of the local context and unique characteristics of the site. Changsin-dong provides a unique spatial experience due to rapid topographical changes along with a unique urban landscape formed by narrow alleys and dense buildings. This regional setting was an important inspiration for the architectural ideas, and in particular, the form set on the sloping site reflects the interaction with the surrounding environment.
